Opioid Addiction Recovery

Addiction to opioid prescription pain medications often begins innocently enough. Many start using to treat pain or because they like how they feel, but over time opioid use can become necessary to avoid sickness and misery.

At Via Clinic we assess the nature and extent of the addictive process and help you determine the right setting of care. Because opioid addiction is often combined with other psychological issues, we will perform a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that any co-occurring or contributing mental health symptoms are addressed.

About Opioids in Our Community

Opioids are drugs chemically related to Opiates. Opiates, such as morphine, are compounds found naturally in the opium poppy plant. Opioids include heroin and painkillers like oxycodone and hydrocodone. Opioids are addictive, reinforcing drugs that can produce a physical dependency. Depression, anxiety, and demoralization can both contribute to, as well as result from, opioid addiction.

Baltimore is known for having one of the most severe drug abuse problems in Maryland and in the nation. If you or a loved one is suffering from opioid addiction, you are not alone. In Baltimore, government organizations estimate that as many as one in ten people are addicted to heroin. Through treatment, education, and community involvement we can fight opioid addiction in Baltimore.
